Speech-Language Pathology
Speech and language therapy focuses on treatment of speech, language, feeding, and cognition that affect an individual's ability to process and produce communication. Treatment should be conducted by a degreed and licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.
Therapy may include work on:
• Speech - oral motor planning, articulation, phonology, volume, vocal quality, fluency, intonation, rate
• Receptive Language – auditory processing, semantics, syntax, morphology
• Expressive Language – morphology, semantics, syntax, pragmatics; and written forms of symbolic language such as reading and writing
• Feeding – motor control for accepting, chewing and swallowing all textures of food.
Feeding
Therapy
Pediatric feeding therapy helps children who struggle with eating, drinking, or trying new foods. Therapists work on the underlying skills needed for successful feeding—such as oral-motor coordination, sensory tolerance, and mealtime confidence. Through play-based, supportive strategies, therapy helps children become safer, more comfortable eaters while expanding the variety of foods they enjoy. The goal is to make mealtimes easier, more positive, and more successful for the whole family.
